CTET 2024: Revised Eligibility Criteria

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released updated eligibility criteria and educational qualifications for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2024, as per the guidelines set by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Key Revisions in Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Candidates currently enrolled in any Teacher Training Course (TTC) can now apply for the CTET examination, including those whose appointments have been challenged.
  2. Post-graduate candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade and a three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. course.
  3. Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualifications specified in the Recruitment Rules for teachers by the appropriate state government, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

Qualifying the CTET does not guarantee a teaching appointment, as it serves only as a qualifying examination. The recruiting authority will verify the candidate’s final eligibility during the recruitment process.

Educational Qualifications for CTET 2024

The CTET educational qualifications are divided into two papers:

  • Paper I: For candidates aspiring to teach classes I to V
  • Paper II: For candidates aspiring to teach classes VI to VIII

Candidates must meet the educational qualifications prescribed by the NCTE, which include minimum qualifications for individuals to be recruited as teachers in pre-primary, primary, upper primary, secondary, senior secondary, or intermediate schools or colleges.
